Make your reading goal fit your real week

Choose the books, estimate their length, and leave room for non-reading days. You’ll get a pace that is clear enough to act on.

Set your reading target

Use an average page count; the plan does not need every book in advance.

Pages per day or books per month?

Books per month is good for seeing the whole goal. Pages per reading day is better at the moment you sit down. Use both: the monthly pace keeps the destination visible, while the daily number tells you what “enough” looks like tonight.

Plan for days when you will not read

A seven-day plan quietly assumes every week will be ideal. Choosing four or five reading days creates spare capacity for late nights, travel, and books that need more attention. If you read on a spare day, you move ahead instead of merely keeping up.

Track finished books, not perfect streaks

Reading is naturally uneven. A short novel may take a weekend; a dense nonfiction book may take a month. A punch card for completed books preserves that flexibility and makes the year’s progress tangible.

Use our guide to set a reading goal you will enjoy, including how to choose a number without turning books into homework.
